News Release: 5/13/2026
Our local Tampa Rough Riders are conducting a trilogy of events on June 5th and 6th, coinciding with 128 years since the Rough Riders were in Tampa prior to embarking on the SS Yucatan to help liberate Cuba. Each of these three events will feature Kevin and Dara Oliver acting as Teddy and Edith Roosevelt. Three different events with different audiences and focus.
The first of these three events is called "Luncheon with Teddy and Edith Roosevelt".
The luncheon will be held in the Teddy Roosevelt Museum in the Rough Riders clubhouse, 601 N 19th St, Tampa on June 5th beginning at 11:30AM. Our history docents will welcome guests and provide tours of selected parts of our Teddy Roosevelt Museum. Lunch will be available at noon and the actors will begin their performance at 1230. We should conclude by 1PM. The link to see more and to register for the event is: https://tamparoughriders.org/event-6661254
The second of these three events is called "Night at the Rough Riders Museum".
This event will also be held in the Teddy Roosevelt Museum in the Rough Riders clubhouse, 601 N 19th St, Tampa on June 5th beginning at 5PM. Our history docents and representatives from the Krewe of Mambis will welcome guests and provide tours of selected parts of our Teddy Roosevelt Museum. We will have a food truck available should you wish to purchase food. Our cash bar will be available. The actors will begin their performance at 6:15PM, followed by author Mark Barry who will present his own ideas on the sinking of the USS Maine. At 7PM we will begin a movie night with the first movie being "Night at the Museum" (Ben Stiller and Robin Williams). Naturally, popcorn is available and the bar will remain in operation. This event is family friendly with a different spin from Teddy and Edith. The link to see more and to register for the event is: https://tamparoughriders.org/event-6636804
The third event of the trilogy is called "Bay Pines National Cemetery Commemoration Event." This event will occur the morning of June 6th at the Bay Pines National Cemetery in St Petersburg at 9AM. At this event we will commemorate two Spanish American War soldiers buried there - one a Rough Rider, the other a Buffalo Solider. Teddy and Edith will have a short performance at this solemn event as well. We will conduct a wreath laying ceremony and play taps to honor these two soldiers.
