Public Experience Lead
The Tampa Bay History Center is seeking a dynamic, public-facing Public Experience Lead to help shape how our stories are experienced—inside the museum and across Tampa Bay.
This role reports to the Director of Education and plays a key part in translating the region’s rich past into engaging, accessible, and memorable experiences for a broad and growing audience.
Working at the intersection of storytelling, public engagement, and community activation, this position focuses on executing high-quality, visitor-facing programs and experiences that extend the History Center’s reach—while ensuring everything is grounded in strong historical thinking and compelling narrative.

- Serve as a visible, public-facing representative of the History Center
- Collaborate closely with Education, Curatorial, Collections, and Marketing & Communications teams
- Support partnerships with local organizations, historians, and community groups
- Track program data and prepare regular reports to measure impact and inform decisions.
- Identify opportunities to activate the museum’s spaces and extend presence along the Riverwalk and across the region
What we’re looking for
- A strong storyteller with a background in history, public history, museum work, or a related field
- Someone who thrives when speaking publicly, engaging with media, and working across formats
- A collaborative, cross-functional thinker who enjoys execution as much as ideas
- Experience supporting or delivering public-facing programs, content, or experiences
- Curiosity, energy, and a desire to connect people with place

- Full-time, on-site position with evening or weekend work for special programs
- Standard office hours with some flexibility
