May Flowers (No Pilgrims) Comedy Show at Stageworks Theatre

Tampa's comedy scene is about to get a whole lot livelier, thanks to rising comedian & host Jared Thomas. Jared, Founder of Bayshore Comedy, has teamed up with Stageworks Theatre to bring a fresh, high-energy comedy showcase to the Channelside District.  

Jared, a lifelong fan of comedy, got his start in stand-up after reciting Brian Regan jokes to friends and family, eventually taking the plunge at an open mic in 2020. Though the pandemic put his early comedy ambitions on hold, his move to Tampa reignited his passion, and he's been making waves ever since.  

For Jared, launching a show at Stageworks Theatre was a natural fit. “I had always meant to catch a show at Stageworks, but after meeting Cecilia Claudio ( Stageworks Development & Rentals Co-Ordinator ) at Leads Coffeehouse, we got to talking about comedy and her venue,” he shares. “Once I toured the space, I knew it was the perfect place to bring live stand-up.”  

With Tampa's comedy scene thriving, Jared hopes to create a monthly showcase that highlights both local talent and nationally recognized comics. His first show is already set to make a splash, featuring headliner Kortney Shane Williams, who has opened for Dave Chappelle and Hannibal Buress.   

Jared’s goal is simple: "bring laughter to downtown Tampa" while showcasing homegrown talent. “Tampa has some incredible comedians that more people need to know about,” he says. “This show is about bridging that gap and giving audiences a place to experience the best of live comedy.”
