Gaspar's Grotto Hosts Sept. 8 Fundraising Event for Hurricane Harvey Relief
Gaspar’s Grotto proves once again it is more than a popular place to have a good time and enjoy good food when the Ybor City bar and restaurant extends its hospitality to help victims of Hurricane Harvey. Beginning at 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8, donations will be accepted in an effort to raise much needed funds for those who have lost their homes, businesses and suffered setbacks due to the flooding and damage caused throughout the Houston area by the recent hurricane. “Living in Florida we know how devastating it can be to suffer personal losses from hurricanes and floodwaters. There is a tremendous need to help people throughout Southeast Texas rebuild their lives. That effort is going to take time and money and we want to lead the way in the Tampa Bay area to help make sure that happens,” said Eric Schiller, Gaspar’s Grotto proprietor who, with his wife Shere, has welcomed guests from all over the world to Gaspar’s Grotto for nearly 15 years. “Shere and I have done many fundraising events over the years. We invite everyone to come out that night and make a donation. Any amount contributed will go directly to the Save the Children Fund to support Hurricane Harvey Relief: http://www.savethechildren.org/site/c.8rKLIXMGIpI4E/b.6115947/k.B143/Official_USA_Site.htm?msource=wexgphomb615&gclid=CJCS2rLX_9UCFUY2gQodzdAPjwc In addition to being personally gratifying and providing relief to the recipients of these goodwill efforts, Eric sees the Sept. 8 event as a way to bring people together. “I guess it is how we express our gratitude to God for sparing us and our neighbors while also enabling us to extend our help and generosity to those less fortunate.” Food and drink specials will be available throughout the evening. Cash, check and credit card donations will be accepted.
